Camera Lets Blind People Navigate with Gestures | MIT Technology Review
For the most part of it, HCI has been used either to make user friendly experiences available or just to tweak how we interact with the systems. I feel aiding the visually impaired is and will remain the primary goal for HCI and luckily enough i had the honor of being attached to one such project at CVIT, IIIT-Hyderabad. During the same time, a MIT conference on Engineering the eye was also catering to the same need for visually impaired. This is the next big thing, when you use technology to do the impossible, give vision to a visually impaired person.
